For most hunters, yes. Plastic vanes hold up better to wear and weather than wraps, which tend to peel over time and add a bit of extra weight. Wraps still have a place if custom graphics or shaft protection matter more to you than raw durability.

Polyurethane (PU) and Mylar generally rate as the most durable and weather-resistant of the common vane materials, while polyethylene (PE) and PVC trade some durability for lower manufacturing cost and easier shaping.

Does vane noise actually matter for bowhunting?

It's more about staying stealthy around animals with sharp hearing than about accuracy. In one amateur field test, Blazer vanes measured loudest and Bohning Heat Vanes measured quietest; as a general pattern, high-profile vanes tend to run noisier than low-profile ones, and straight fletching runs quieter than helical or offset.
