1 · The site

ArcheryEra is operated by Burak, sole operator, contactable at info@archeryera.com. Using the site means accepting these terms.

2 · The calculators are models

Every tool here is a physics model fed by numbers you type in. Real arrows are affected by things no model captures: your form on the day, a slightly bent nock, humidity, a bow that has drifted out of tune since you last checked it. Outputs are estimates for planning and comparison, not guarantees.

Verify before it counts. Sight marks, hold-overs and range estimates must be confirmed on a target at known distance before you use them on a live animal. Nothing on this site replaces practice, and nothing on this site is a substitute for an ethical shot you are confident of taking.

Archery involves risk of serious injury. You are responsible for safe practice, for the condition of your equipment, and for complying with the hunting and shooting laws where you are. To the maximum extent the law allows, I accept no liability for loss, injury or wounded game arising from the use of this site.

3 · Comments

No account is needed to use this site. Tool reviews and blog comments are open to anyone, and you can post under any name or anonymously. Do not post:

• Abuse, harassment, or attacks on a person rather than an argument.
• Illegal content, or advice to break wildlife or firearms law.
• Spam, affiliate links, or promotion of your own shop dressed up as a recommendation.
• Someone else’s copyrighted text or images without the right to post them.
• Anyone’s personal information, including your own address or phone number.

Comments appear immediately and are moderated afterwards. I may edit, hide or delete anything that breaks these rules, and I do not have to explain each decision, though I usually will.

4 · Content policy

This is a bowhunting site. People here talk about killing animals, blood trails, broadhead wounds and field dressing, in detail. None of that is against the rules — it is the subject.

These eight categories are, whether in a tool review, a blog comment or an uploaded image:

1. Violent crime and threats. Threatening a person, encouraging violence against a person or group, or instructions for weapons whose purpose is to hurt people — explosives, converting a firearm to automatic fire, building an untraceable gun. Hunting, target archery and lawful firearm ownership are not this.
2. Drugs. Buying, selling, sourcing or manufacturing controlled substances. Discussing a medication you take, or the law, or how something affects your shooting, is not this.
3. Abuse aimed at another member. Insulting, mocking or telling somebody here to get lost. The words are not really the problem — a post pointed at a person is a different thing from a post with a swear word in it, and this site treats them differently. Arguing hard about spine, broadheads or crossbows is not this, and never will be.
4. Strong language. Swearing in general slows a thread down and gets held; it is the mildest thing on this list and it is treated that way. “This rest is a pain in the ass to tune” is not what this is for.
5. Hate. Slurs, and language that dehumanises people for their race, religion, nationality, sex, sexuality, gender identity or disability. This one has no context that makes it acceptable, including as a joke or a quotation.
6. Suicide and self-harm. Encouraging it, giving methods, or glorifying it. Saying that you are struggling is not against the rules and never will be — see the note at the end of this section.
7. Sexual content. Explicit sexual material, and links to it.
8. Sex-related crime. Anything sexualising a minor, and any content describing or encouraging sexual assault or coercion. There is no appeal on this one: it is deleted immediately, and where the law requires it, it is reported.

How this is enforced

An automatic filter reads everything as it is posted. If it matches one of the categories above, the post is held rather than published: it is stored complete, you are told which category it matched, and it goes up as soon as I have read it — usually the same day. Nothing is silently deleted and nothing you write is edited.

The filter matches words and phrases. It does not understand sentences, so it will sometimes hold a post that was perfectly fine. If that happens, mail info@archeryera.com and I will publish it. It is a delay, not a verdict.

Repeatedly posting things in these categories from the same visitor will get future submissions held automatically. For sex-related crime that happens on the first one, and it is reported where the law requires it.

Editing and removing what you wrote

There is no account to log back into, so I cannot verify who wrote a given comment or idea after the fact. If you want something you posted corrected or removed, email info@archeryera.com describing the post and where it is — I read that address myself and I would rather remove something on your say-so than leave it up on a technicality.

If you are struggling

Nothing in this policy is meant to stop you saying that you are having a hard time. Posts that mention suicide or self-harm are held so that a person reads them rather than a machine, which is the opposite of censorship. If you need to talk to someone now, in the US you can call or text 988 at any hour; elsewhere, findahelpline.com lists a number for your country.

Reporting something

If you find something on the site that breaks this policy, mail info@archeryera.com with a link. I read that address myself and I would rather see ten reports that turn out to be nothing than miss one that is not.

5 · What you post stays yours

You keep the copyright in everything you write and upload. By posting it you give me a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display it on the site and to quote it in guides about the site. You can withdraw that licence for a specific post by asking me to remove it.

You confirm you have the right to post whatever you upload, including screenshots.

6 · My content

The guides, tools, code, illustrations and the ArcheryEra name and logo are mine. Read them, use the tools, quote a paragraph with a link back. Do not republish articles wholesale, scrape the site in bulk, or copy the tools into your own product.

7 · Availability

This is a one-person project. Every tool on the site is free, with no account and no payment required. I aim to keep it up and correct, but I cannot promise uninterrupted service, an error-free site, or that any particular feature will still exist next year. The site is provided “as is”.

8 · Affiliate disclosure

Some pages on this site include Amazon affiliate links, most often in gear-comparison and how-to guides where a specific product is recommended — the set of pages grows as new guides are published. As an Amazon Associate, ArcheryEra earns from qualifying purchases made through those links, at no extra cost to you. Guides are written first and links are added to what is already recommended, never the other way around; see the Privacy Policy for what this means for your data.

9 · Links out

Guides link to forums, manufacturers and research. I do not control those sites and I am not responsible for what is on them.

10 · Changes and law

These terms may change; the date at the top will tell you when. Significant changes will be flagged on the site. These terms are governed by the law of the operator’s country of residence, and nothing in them removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
