What fletching choices actually change
Helical vs straight, three fletch vs four fletch — these choices steer the arrow by spinning it, and how much spin you need depends on what's on the front of the shaft. A field point barely needs steering. A fixed-blade broadhead planing sideways in the wind needs real vane surface and real helical twist to fly straight, which is why hunting and target setups often land on completely different fletching.
Clearance off the rest matters as much as vane shape — a vane that's too tall or angled wrong for your rest will clip on release and ruin an otherwise good shot, and no guide can fix that from a spec sheet alone.
